Johanna Fernholm started her musical studies as a flute student. She was also a choral singer ever since her early childhood. She has studied at the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and has a degree in music education, flute and a singing diploma as well. She has also taken part in many master classes in Finland and abroad. Johanna has studied singing, lied interpretation and baroque music with Marjut Hannula, Ute von Garczynski, Larissa Gergieva, Gustav Djupsjöbacka, Collin Hansen, Peter Kooij, Kai Wessel, Susanne Rydén, Jory Vinikour.
Johanna Fernholm sings music from the early baroque to contemporary music. She performs as a mezzo and alto soloist in chamber concerts and cantata and oratorio productions. Johanna's special interest is baroque music and she has frequently cooperated with baroque musicians and ensembles. She is a member of the newly founded Finnish baroque ensemble, Trio Zipoli. Johanna had a successful debut recital in Helsinki 2005.
